Quick, pre- round post

We are waiting on rounds still. The girl down the hall has had a tough morning, so everyone has been down there. Thank you so much for adding her to your thought and prayers.

So Emmy's fever is not withdrawal- although she is going through that as well- it is an infection from her central line. Infectious disease will decide what to do; it will probably be an anti- biotic, and then they'll have to take out the central line and do something else. This will be discussed and decided at rounds, I think. People are not freaking out about it, and most have said they are surprised it didn't happen sooner because they have had to use that line so much and for so long.

Emerson has awoken for brief periods a few times this morning. I asked her a few times to give me a pat- pat, something she used to do for mommy when I was feeling down, and she patted my hand a few times this morning when I asked for that. I know it could be a coincidence, but I want to believe it was intentional. She had some occupational therapy this morning, and she did well. She was fitted for splints for her legs. The OT was happy with her movements and responses though.

Okay, so as I was in the middle of what was supposed to be this very brief post, guess who strolled in?! Neuro! And guess what?! They are thrilled with her responses! I was just, literally, in the middle of my sentence to them explaining how she has opened her eyes on her own, but often she needs a reminder/ help blah, blah, blah and at that moment, Emerson opened her eyes and was blinking at them. She wanted to show that she is way stronger than i was giving her credit for. They were so impressed. And she was kicking and moving her hands! They said that for all of the drugs they still have her on, they are surprised to see her doing all that she is. They said they are very pleased. I told them I loved this visit and they can come back again soon :).
