Day 47

Marionjoy is living up to all the praise we had heard. Staff is very outgoing, professional, and positive. Today, Emmy has had two rounds of OT, one sixty minute session of PT and will have speech this afternoon. She has already made progress in lifting her head. She also got a good night sleep which has seemed to make her more active today. She yelled once today, sort of out of pain and shock when she got her foot in awkward position in the crib.

The facilities here are very quiet, clean and comfortable. The walls are really thick which makes connectivty to the web difficult. I went out and bought a cot that is likely better than any facitlty bed that we have been sleeping in. Our room is pretty spacious so it fits pretty well. We hsve s couch, two chairs and a rocking chair. Emerson is snuggling with Jessica on the couch. Em needs lots of rest in-between sessions but she has been doing really well.

Emmy's doctor has lengthened her wean schedule for meds and said that there isn't a rush. To help her get back on a sleep schedule, her methadone is a higher dose in the evening and starting tonight, she is getting a sleep aid.

In many ways our daughter is an infant again. We are worried about her vision, hearing, speech, ability to swallow and lack of strength. It is only the beginning of recovery and initial assessments will continue throughout tomorrow.
