Notes on Emerson

Above is Emerson post popsicle, enjoying life.  If anyone deserves some frolicking in only a diaper, I suppose it is this little one.  It is only right that you get to share in her frolicking as well.

Her current therapists at Marionjoy and her potentially future therapists from Early Intervention have said that is still very early in her neurological recovery and all find deficits, especially in her fine and gross motor abilities.  Her therapists at Marionjoy believe a cause for concern exists in her ability to focus and we will continue to monitor this.  They are pediatric experts, no question.  It is hard though to imagine what a toddler is supposed to be able to do, especially at a treatment center where the car ride is just long enough for her to fall asleep only to be woken to work on difficult tasks.  Additionally, the adjustments of spring break and mom back at work, along with two year molars can be reason enough for her to be off her game.  We are waiting for a Marionjoy assessment and the evaluation from Early Intervention.  We'll give you the highlights as we learn them.  

Her survival is lucky.  Her current state of recovery is lucky.  The past several months of our "return" to home and work have been filled with a lot of relief and joy but the subjectivity of her projected recovery is a longer wait and see period.  We hope to put all of this behind us, we wait for the day.  For now, we enjoy all of our family time, even if our "play" has a serious undertone of assessment.
