Extubated!

She has been breathing mostly on her own for an hour and forty minutes now. She is doing well but understandably agitated. She is now enjoying some Versed. They removed her NG tube that was helping drain hr stomach because her ostomy output has been good. No more tape mustache! She does have a little air assist via a little tube with a hole for each nostril to help fill and humidify her lungs. She has been able to strongly cough, last night I woke up to a pretty big cough.

Her Edema increased over night but her belly is soft so there isnt too much concern there.

We have to watch her for the next six to eight hours to assess if she can remain extubated.
