Last Night

Emerson was well behaved, she met half of her goals. She let the NG tube suction her bile and didn't vomit. She did have a temperature on and off last night. The infectious disease doctor was pleased with her progress in fighting off this recent line infection. Through cultures, she knows the exact bacteria and she is treating it accordingly.

Fingers crossed people. I really want to hear from surgery today that we can ditch the stomach vac and they can stitch up her belly. This would be a big step closer to her being taken off the ventilator, which would be wonderful! I would also enjoy the removal of her left chest tube. Emerson has been breathing really strong over her ventilator so I hope she would handle being off of the ventilator, otherwise they might have to give her a tracheotomy - no thank you. She may be too sedated to protect her own airway though so I'm likely getting ahead of myself. It may be another day of waiting for her infection to clear.
