Morphine

Emerson's morphine has been changed from every three to two hours. She has been pressing he foot up against my hand when receiving a bolus of meds into her IV line. It is hard to tell if she is tearing or oozing. The oozing often occurs as the result of excess lubrication. The lubrication is applied to prevent corneal abrasions. Jess and I take turns lubricating her lips with Vaseline so they don't crack. Back to her pain or perceived pain, Emerson's nurse is trying, and I think succeeding, to stay ahead of Emerson's pain. The balancing acts Emmy is undergoing are to stressful for her parents at times but we are handling things better. Kathleen has been a huge help for us. Last night, she slept with Emerson so Jessica and I could stay together. Thanks Aunt Neen(Emerson calls her Neen)!
