Update: post surgical rounds

The surgical residents came for rounds this morning. The took Emerson's left chest tube off of suction and will let it drain unpowered today. They will likely remove her left tube tomorrow. Her right chest tube may come out in the next could of days. Friday they are tentatively scheduled to close up Emerson's belly but they will have to see how here edema is. All of this change is the result of Emerson's restored kidney function. The cheif resident referred to her kidney function as normal based on her morning labs. This little girl has been peeing 16-18cc an hour - liquid gold.

Yesterday, they removed her arteriole line which is a very good sign. This was used to check her blood pressure to the second, now we are using a cuff that measures it hourly.

We used to have over twenty pumps and bags hanging on three poles, Emerson is down to two poles with eleven pumps, not all of them are on, some are rotated or on ready five.

Her air way check this morning revealed that her swelling has come down in her throat by ten cm which is good improvement as well.

Emerson has raised her eyebrows, jolted her left foot, moved her right foot and right hand. She has yet to move her left hand or cough for us. They lowered her sedation again so hopefully she will move a bit more for us. It would be a nice relief to see here move and get a better understanding of her neurological function, however, I want all these tubes and holes gone before my little lady comes to. I guess I want everything.
