Another good round of rounds. Slow progress, but progress nonetheless.
This morning during oral care, Emerson jolted her left foot!
After doing a leak check of her airway, she was a level of 36cm meaning that she has too much inflammation in her throat to come off the vent if she were less sedated etc. Anything above an 18 means she will need steroids before she is ready to breathe on her own to reduce the inflammation.
Emerson's Liver and Kidney function continue to improve. Despite being on protien, her lactic acid continues to fall, it is down to 1.96. Her clotting is getting better due to her liver recovery.
Her sodium level is a 134, a slight improvement from yesterday. Around 130 they would begin to be concerned as low sodium could trigger seizures.
Her edema has improved. She seems a little less swollen. Her weight has slightly gone down as well. They switched her to a new bed which weighed her in heavier than the scale so some differences exist in their calibration. More on that later.
They have continued to slowly decrease her fentanyl and versed without complications.
